- Bald Eagles are very strong fliers with white feathers on their head, tail and wing tips; the body has brown feathers.
- The female bald eagle is 30% larger than the male.
- Since eagles hunt during the day they use their sense of site to find prey.
- Although the diet of eagles is primarily fish, they will scavenge dead animals as a source of food.
- Bald eagles build an enormous nest from twigs and leaves.
- Both male and female eagles help to incubate the eggs in the nest.
- Eagles are a threatened species. They were reclassified from "endangered" to "threatened" in the lower 48 states in 1994.
