- An eagle has approximately 7,000 feathers on its body.
- The female bald eagle is 30% larger than the male.
- Eagles are carnivores and hunt during the day (they are diurnal).
- An eagle will hunt mammals, snakes and other birds but diet of an eagle is made up mostly of fish.
- Eagles reach maturity at 4 to 5 years.
- A female eagle will lay one to three eggs sometime from December to March.
- Like most animals, eagles live longer in captivity.
